MISSION
Kanazawa University Noto Branch operates the Noto Satoyama Satoumi SDGs Meister Program as its education
division, and has established the Noto Future Society SDGs Research Division as its research division.
With these two divisions—the education division and the research division—serving as the dual pillars of its
activities, the institute takes on the challenge of building a distinctive future society model unique to
the Noto region.

The Noto Satoyama Satoumi SDGs Meister Program promotes mutual learning among diverse, highly motivated participants, starting from the Noto Satoyama and Satoumi region. Through this process, the program works to objectively analyze regional challenges, discover new values from fresh perspectives, and support the development of concrete plans through pilot projects and practical experiments.
The Noto Future Society SDGs Research Division is an endowed research division established within Frontier Science and Social Co-creation Initiative, Kanazawa University, supported by a donation from Suzu City, Ishikawa Prefecture. This research division is grounded in the unique regional resources of Notoʼs Satoyama and Satoumi, which have been recognized as a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems (GIAHS). Emphasizing concrete, action-oriented practices, the division has established three research projects:
- Research and development of evidence-based human resource development programs that contribute to regional revitalization (Capacity Building)
- Research on biological diversity and cultural diversity centered on the Satoyama and Satoumi landscape (Biocultural Diversity)
- Research on social sustainability through the utilization of region-specific resources (Social and Economic Sustainability)
